About Sky View Lacrosse

Lacrosse was originally played by Native American Indians as far back as the 1400's. Traditional lacrosse games were sometimes major events that could last several days. As many as 100 to 1,000 men from opposing villages or tribes would participate. The games were played in open plains located between the two villages, and the goals could range from 500 yards (460 m) to several miles apart.

Rules for these games were decided on the day before. Generally there was no out-of-bounds, and the ball could not be touched with the hands. The goals would be selected as large rocks or trees; in later years golden posts were used. Playing time was often from sun up until sun down.

Sky View Lacrosse was organized in 2002 with the goal of bringing a fast paced, challenging, strategic and fun sport to Northern Utah.
It has since grown to include three High School teams, Varsity, Junior Varsity and Sophomore, two Jr. league teams, 5/6th grade and 7/8th grade and also a Girls Varsity and JV team.

Sky View Lacrosse is dedicated to providing a program that builds young mens self esteem, respect and also challenges them to grow and learn. Sky View Lacrosse's coaching staff is held to a high standard, both personally and on the field. The boys are held to the same high standard including academically, socially and physically.

Sky View Lacrosse's 2011 goals are to build strong team values, teach the boys self control, teach them to play and live with integrity on and off the field, teach them the importance of physical, emotional and mental health, represent Sky View High School well, and most of all, to have fun.
